Revolution Studios will open a superhero school, optioning the graphic novel "Zoom's Academy for the Super Gifted" from Jason Lethcoe for Team Todd and Underground Films to produce.
The "Harry Potter"-like project revolves around an unpopular high school girl who is whisked away by her mysterious father to a school for superheroes, where she discovers her talents.
Comic was acquired for low six figures. Writers are being sought for the project.
Lethcoe, who has worked as an animator at Disney and Warner Bros., first published "Zoom's Academy" in 2001, through Astonish Comics, which also has an animated adaptation of its "Herobear and the Kid" in the works at Universal Pictures.
Lethcoe has since joined Sony Pictures Animation and serves as a story editor on "Herobear."
Team Todd toppers Suzanne and Jennifer Todd will produce "Zoom's Academy" as a live-action pic.
